For a special treat, look up at the stars on Monday, Dec. 21st!
A planetary conjunction between Saturn and Jupiter is set to take place on the winter solstice, and its nickname is “Christmas Star.” The planets will not actually be as close to each other as they appear to be, but our perspective from Earth will make it appear that way. Saturn and Jupiter will be passing closer than they have in nearly 400 years and for the first time in nearly 800 years, their alignment will happen at night, so we will be able to see it. To catch a peek, try to find a spot with an unobstructed view, like a field or park, and look to the southwestern sky one hour after sunset. For even more of a thrill, use binoculars or a small telescope to see Jupiter’s four large moons. Comment below if you were lucky enough to see it! Please share one or two of your favorite "I AM ENOUGH" similes that you wrote. Reading them we clearly see that we each have a purpose, you respect yourself and others, and you are loving who you are! Awesome!
Malkeleh is an affectionate, pet name meaning "Little Molly". Molly and her mother are speaking Yiddish; a language used by the Jews of Europe in addition to their national language.

Where is your favorite place to play outside? What's something you're really excited about? When are you happiest during the day? What is your favorite activity to do with your family? What is your favorite sound? What is one thing you love about yourself? What's one of the things you love most about your sibling? What talent do you have that you are grateful for? What food are you most thankful for? What about today has been better than yesterday? What have you learned that you are thankful to know? Who made you smile today? What is your favorite thing about the place you live? Who always listens to you? From the comfort of our own classroom, we visited the Bronx Zoo! Using our iPads, we were able to connect to, and interact with, our own zoo guide. Our presenter held the sweetest little fox and explained to us how her adaptations would help her survive in the wild. We were also treated to a glimpse of the Congo Gorilla Forest. Our presenter turned the camera around so the gorillas could see all of us too! Big thanks to PSS PTA for a setting up a beautiful pumpkin patch in our OLC. We loved getting to pick out our very own pumpkins.
We were challenged to create a word map using each classmate's name on the grid. Success! |
